As part of its vision as an Entrepreneurial University, ZHAW is actively strengthening students’ entrepreneurial competencies – both disciplinary and cross-disciplinary. A key milestone in this effort is the launch of the new Competence Framework for Entrepreneurial Competences, now available for download for lecturers.
The framework outlines essential entrepreneurial skills – from opportunity identification to leadership and team management – and provides a structured approach to measuring and certifying them. Developed by ZHAW entrepreneurship and several people from 4 departments as part of a pilot project, it is grounded in established academic literature and competence models.
The framework was first applied in practice in the assessment plans of the Entrepreneurial Summer Schools 2024, as well as the Industry Hack at open-i 2024, where participants received Micro-Credentials to officially document the skills they acquired. These digital and flexible credentials ensure transparency and help students showcase their competencies in a rapidly changing job market.
